Private 2-Day Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom and Kulen Mountain Tour with Guide
Two days with a local guide and private transportation, covering the temples of the Khmer Empire and the sacred mountain where it began. The Angkor side of the route takes in Angkor Wat, built in the early 12th century by Suryavarman II and first dedicated to Vishnu, Ta Prohm, a Buddhist temple that Jayavarman VII dedicated to his mother, with giant tree roots over its galleries, and Angkor Thom, the last great capital of the Khmer Empire, with the Bayon, the South Gate, the Royal Palace area, Phimeanakas and the Terrace of the Elephants. Kulen Mountain is the second half: the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, with the River of a Thousand Lingas carved into its bed, the reclining Buddha and a waterfall where swimming is possible. The route also includes Kampong Phluk, a stilted village on the edge of Tonle Sap Lake, reached by a boat ride through flooded forest, which is most striking in the wet season. Private transportation and a guide are included. Entrance fees and meals are not. Up to 10 travelers can share a booking, a moderate level of fitness is expected, and infants must sit on an adult's lap.
