South Shore Minibus Day Tour: Skogafoss First, Seljalandsfoss Last, Max 19
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
ReykjavikSkogafoss opens the day and Seljalandsfoss closes it on this South Shore minibus tour from Reykjavik, a deliberate order because getting wet behind the falls is better at the end than at the start. The vehicle is a modern minibus holding a maximum of 19 passengers, with an air-conditioned cabin, WiFi and a driver-guide whose commentary is in English. The day lasts 10 to 11 hours. Longer stops are made at Skogafoss, with its 60-metre (200 ft) drop and spray, at Solheimajokull for a view of the glacier and the ocean, and at Reynisfjara black sand beach near Vik and the Dyrholaey headland. The Reynisfjara stop lasts about an hour, with basalt columns, sea stacks and, between May and August, puffins on the grassy cliff ledges. The guide may add a couple of unscheduled stops depending on time, weather and road conditions. Lunch and gratuities are not included; restaurants and gas stations on the route sell food and have restrooms, and the beach has a cafe. Free Reykjavik hotel pickup is included. Minimum age is 3, strollers are fine, infant seats are available and service animals are allowed. Dress warmly for the outdoors.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall
The last stop of the day: the coastal road runs west at the foot of Eyjafjallajokull volcano to Seljalandsfoss, a column of water falling off the cliffs. A path goes behind the falls and through the spray, so waterproofs are worth bringing.
-
Skogafoss
The first stop is Skogafoss, a powerful waterfall with a 60-metre (200 ft) drop and heavy spray. On sunny days a rainbow often hangs over it.
-
Solheimajokull Glacier
A view over the Solheimajokull glacier and the ocean beyond it.
-
Reynisfjara Beach
After walking back from the ice, the minibus continues east to Reynisfjara, near Vik and the Dyrholaey headland. The stop lasts about an hour, with black sand, basalt columns, cliffs and sea stacks, and puffins nesting on the grassy ledges between May and August. The beach cafe serves lunch.
