Ubud Cooking Class and Secret Waterfall Day Trip with Local Market Visit

Food is the main subject of this full-day trip from Ubud, and a waterfall rounds it off. The driver collects guests from their stay between 6:30 and 7:40 in the morning, depending on where they are staying, in an air-conditioned vehicle. The first stop is a traditional market, where locals buy for their households. From there it is about 10 minutes to the cooking class workshop, set above rice paddies, where the class makes a traditional Balinese spice paste, the base of many dishes, and then cooks the menu. No cooking experience is needed. Guests chop, grind, fry and grill satay with coconut shell, with a meat menu (chicken satay, steamed fish in banana leaf, fried rice, mushroom soup) or a vegetarian one (vegetable soup, sweet fried tempeh, mixed vegetables in coconut spices, soybean skewers with peanut sauce, a rolled cake with coconut and palm sugar). The dishes cooked are then eaten. Afterwards the group visits Secret Waterfall, whose upper fall makes a natural shower and whose lower cascade is a place to swim when the water is calm, before the ride back.
