Ubud waterfall tours: what each day includes and what it costs
20 tours, typically under 30 EUR for about nine hours: 17 private cars, 3 shared, and in most of them the waterfall is one stop among several.
Ubud waterfall tours typically cost under 30 EUR for about nine hours, and 17 of the 20 listings are private cars with a driver. The price does not rise with the hours: seven of the nine 10-hour tours cost under 30 EUR, while the two 6-hour tours cost a little more, in the 30 to 60 EUR band. What changes from one listing to the next is what the day contains, because in most of them the waterfall is one stop among rice terraces, temples, a monkey forest and a jungle swing. This page reads the listings on what they include, which falls they reach and which one suits the day you have. It also says what the reviews can and cannot tell you, because one listing holds almost all of them, and what to ask an operator before you pay.
The island itself, with the road times, entry fees and seasons of each fall, is on the Bali page. This page stays with the Ubud day: what the listings contain, what the 20 prices say, and the questions worth asking. For the quad-bike rides and the waterfall-first days, the sister pages linked further down read those tours instead.

What a Ubud waterfall tour actually contains
The Ubud list is not one product. It is a handful of different days sold under similar names, and the table shows five of them side by side. One is a private day through a monkey forest and a water temple that ends at Tegenungan. One is a cooking class where a waterfall comes last. One is an East Bali temple day with a single fall at the start. If you want the waterfall to be the reason for the day, the second and third rows are the ones that deliver it.
| Listing | Price band | Length | Falls | Entry tickets | Meal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ubud Private Tour Rice Terraces Temples Waterfalls | 30 to 60 EUR | 8 hours | Tegenungan, last of six stops | Entrance fee included | Premium lunch included |
| Best of Ubud Waterfalls, Tegalalang Rice Terrace and Swing Tour | Under 30 EUR | 10 hours | Kanto Lampo, Tibumana, Tukad Cepung | Three falls and the terrace; the swing is an extra | Not included |
| Ubud Waterfalls, Temple & Rice Terrace Full Day Tour | Under 30 EUR | 8 hours | Kanto Lampo, Tibumana | Not included | Not listed |
| Tukad Cepung Besakih Lempuyang Temple Best of East Bali Tour | 30 to 60 EUR | 10 hours | Tukad Cepung, first of five stops | Included with option A | Not included |
| Full Day Ubud Waterfall Visit and Cooking Experience | Under 30 EUR | 8 hours | One fall, after the class | Not stated | The class meal |
Read the table before the price. The listing under 30 EUR and the one in the 30 to 60 EUR band both visit Ubud's falls and a terrace, but one leaves the entry tickets and lunch to you and the other includes both, which accounts for part of the gap. The three-fall listing under 30 EUR is the cheapest way to see the most water, and you pay for lunch and the swing yourself. Not one of these is a bad buy. They are different products, and the cheapest is not the cheapest once you add the tickets.
Timing
Tegenungan and the hour you arrive
Tegenungan, the one in the photo, is among the most crowded falls on the island, and travel blogs advise reaching it early or late in the day. Tukad Cepung's light beams are a dry-season, mid-morning thing according to one blog, and another suggests Tibumana before 11. A driver-led day can follow only one order. The most-reviewed listing, in the 30 to 60 EUR band, gets to Tegenungan after five other stops, so ask when you will arrive rather than assuming the fall comes first.
The rains matter here too. Steps and rocks are slippery from November to March, and the water can turn brown. The seasons and the island's other falls are on the Bali page.
What the 20 prices say
The chart breaks a common assumption. Longer does not mean dearer: seven of the nine 10-hour tours cost under 30 EUR, and the two 6-hour tours cost 30 to 60 EUR. Price follows the operator and what is inside, so the day rate of a driver reads very differently from a guided half day. The middle half of the 20 listings runs from under 30 to 60 EUR. The cheapest, under 30 EUR, is an 8-hour private tour with a swing; the dearest, in the 60 to 120 EUR band, is a 10-hour private day that combines waterfalls with temples, quoted for the whole group.
A long day under 30 EUR and a short day in the 30 to 60 EUR band can both be fair. The question is what each one puts in the price.
Group tour or private car for Ubud waterfalls
Private is the default: 17 of 20. That sounds expensive until you look at the three shared tours, which cost under 30 EUR, against a cheapest private listing in the same band. A group saves almost nothing here, and a private car lets you set the order and the pace. Private tours here are priced per person, like the shared ones; only two (an Ubud day in the 30 to 60 EUR band and a waterfalls-and-temples day in the 60 to 120 EUR band) quote one price for the whole group, so price the day for your own party before comparing. One operator holds 94% of the 18,746 reviews on this page, in a single listing in the 30 to 60 EUR band, so the 5.0 rating is mostly one product's. Judge the others by their inclusions.
Extras
Terraces, swings and what you pay on the spot
Rice terraces appear in most of these days, and so does a jungle swing. The swing is a separate stop with a fee in at least one listing, so it is worth asking whether it is in the price. The same goes for entry tickets: one listing under 30 EUR includes tickets to three falls and a terrace, another in the same band says they are not included, and the East Bali day includes them only under its first option. Bali also asks foreign visitors for a 150,000 IDR tourist levy, in force since 14 February 2024, and no listing here includes it.
Questions to ask the operator before you book
Ask whether the entry ticket for each fall is in the price, because some listings say yes and some say plainly no. Ask whether the swing, if you want it, is included. Ask whether lunch is in the price: only 2 of the 20 listings say so. Ask where you are collected, since the pickup areas in one listing run from Ubud to Kuta, Canggu, Seminyak, Sanur, Nusa Dua and Denpasar. And ask what the route does if the rain makes a fall too high or too brown to visit, because a route with no spare stop turns a swollen river into a long drive for nothing.
Where to go next
Ubud's falls are the nearest on the island, 25 to 60 minutes by road from the center according to travel blogs, which is part of why they are the cheapest on the island. If you want the fall to be the whole day, the Bali waterfall tours page reads the waterfall-first days. If you want a quad bike on the way, see the ATV and waterfall tours page. For the whole island and its clusters, start with the Bali page.
Other ways to see Bali's waterfalls
Each page reads its own 20 tours, with a price chart.
Questions about Ubud waterfall tours
Is a group tour or a private driver better for Ubud waterfalls?
Private is the default here: 17 of the 20 listings. The three shared tours cost under 30 EUR, as does the cheapest private tour, so a group saves very little. A private car lets you set the order and the pace. Price the day for your own party: private tours are per person, and only two listings quote one price for the whole group.
Which waterfalls do Ubud tours visit?
Tegenungan, Tibumana, Kanto Lampo and Tukad Cepung appear most often. Some listings add Sumampan, Ulu Petanu or Uma Anyar. Most pair them with a rice terrace, a temple or a swing, so the fall is one stop of the day.
Are entrance tickets included in the price?
It depends on the listing. One day under 30 EUR says entry tickets are not included. Another in the same band includes tickets to three falls and a terrace, and the private day in the 30 to 60 EUR band names the entrance fee as included. Read the inclusions, and expect to pay cash at the gate when they say nothing.
Can you swim at the Ubud waterfalls?
At some. A Tibumana stop is described as a place to swim in fresh water, and a Kanto Lampo listing says you need to get into the water to see the fall well. Tukad Cepung is not a swimming place, and after rain the water can be brown and the rocks slippery.
How long is a typical Ubud waterfall tour?
The median is 8.8 hours, from 6 to 10, and it includes the driving between stops. Nine of the 20 listings are 10 hours long. Pickup is offered on all of them, and only 2 list a meal.
