Ubud Guided Day with Hotel Pickup: Waterfalls, Holy Spring Temple, Aloha Swing
The temple at the centre of this guided Ubud day is Tirta Empul, near the town of Tampaksiring: a Hindu water temple whose complex goes back to the 10th century and is dedicated to Vishnu, the god of water. Visitors can watch or join the purification ritual in which devotees bathe in the spring water. A guide in a comfortable car collects guests at the hotel, then heads first to Kanto Lampo Waterfall in Gianyar regency. The tiers of rock make small pools, the walk in follows narrow paths and steps, and the water is cool enough for a swim. Tibumana Waterfall in Bangli regency comes next, reached by a short hike through the jungle, with a shallow pool below a cliff fall. After the temple the route moves to Tegalalang Rice Terrace in the Ubud region, where the hillside paddies belong to the subak irrigation system and narrow paths wind between them. The Aloha Jungle Swing closes the day, more than 100 metres above the valley. Entry tickets to the temple, the terraces and both waterfalls are included; the swing fee and lunch are not.
