Three waterfalls are the whole programme of this day around Ubud. Kanto Lampo comes first, where water runs down natural rock steps: black lava rock in tiers, shaped like a staircase, reached by a short descent of 5 to 10 minutes to a shallow pool for wading or standing under the gentle cascade. Tibumana is next, a quiet and photogenic fall in lush greenery that sees fewer crowds, with a good swimming spot. Suwat Waterfall is the last: about 30 minutes from Ubud, hidden in the Gianyar countryside, around 15 metres tall and falling into a deep turquoise pool, with a bamboo raft to float on and a cave-like setting. The mix suits nature lovers and photographers.
