Winter South Coast Day Tour with Gljufrabui, Reynisfjara and Glacier Touch
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
ReykjavikThe South Shore day trip crosses lowland farmland, high sea cliffs, black sand beaches, volcanic rock formations and glaciers, with waterfalls along the way. A local English-speaking driver-guide drives a Mercedes Sprinter climate-controlled bus limited to 16 people, with free WiFi and USB power on board. At Seljalandsfoss the path goes behind the falling water, so getting a little wet is part of it. Gljufrabui, a hidden waterfall inside a narrow canyon, is visited weather permitting. Skogafoss sends down a huge amount of water, and the mist keeps rainbows in the air; it is 25 metres (82 feet) wide with a 60 m (200 ft) drop. A further stop is made in the small town of Vik. Reynisfjara, named one of the top 10 beaches in the world by National Geographic, has basalt stacks and roaring waves. At Solheimajokull visitors can walk along the glacier lagoon and touch the ice. Pickup and drop-off are at select hotels or bus stops in Reykjavik. Meals and gratuities are not included; stops are made at a local restaurant or grocery shop, or bring a packed lunch. A minimum of 2 people applies, and the tour may be cancelled after confirmation without enough passengers, with an alternative or full refund. It is subject to favorable weather. Not wheelchair accessible. Not recommended with spinal injuries, pregnancy or poor cardiovascular health.
