Victoria Falls Helicopter Flights: 14 Listings Compared
Flights run roughly 120 to 500 EUR, typically 120 to 250. The government fee is outside the price on most listings, and one operator holds 94% of the reviews.
A Victoria Falls helicopter flight typically costs 120 to 250 EUR across the 14 listings we read, and the standard 12 to 13 minute flight sits in the same band. One company, Chikopokopo Helicopters, holds 3,979 of the 4,254 reviews, so most of what you have read about these flights describes a single operation. This page sorts out the other 12 operators, explains why the government fee changes the comparison more than the extra minutes do, and covers the one microlight listing. It is for the traveler who has already decided to fly and needs to choose among the 14, so it stays with the flight itself. The falls, the two parks and the border are on the Victoria Falls page, and the two walking tours are on the pages for both sides and the Zambian side.
Prices are the provider's, in euros. Fees quoted in US dollars are paid on the spot. Everything here comes from the listings as they read on 22 October 2026. The fee wording, the weight limits and the review counts come from six listings opened in full. The other eight are read from their titles, prices and the provider's summary fields, so check their fine print before you book. Flight times in titles are the operators' own, not ours.

Victoria Falls helicopter flight prices by format
Put the 14 listings in order of price and they fall into six groups. Eight are the standard flight, 12 to 15 minutes, in the 120 to 250 EUR band. The other six cost more for reasons that are sometimes on the page and sometimes not.

What happens in twelve minutes
The busiest listing describes the sequence plainly. A driver collects you at the hotel, the drive to the helipad inside Zambezi National Park takes 7 to 10 minutes, and a safety briefing comes before you board. From the helipad to the falls is about one minute of flying. The rest of the flight is spent orbiting. Another listing for the same standard flight counts four circuits, two on each side, so every passenger gets a turn at both windows. The whole outing runs about 45 minutes on that provider's clock, which is why the chart below puts these flights at 0.8 or 1 hour.
"Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight." David Livingstone, 1855. The listings borrow the line for the name of the flight.
A river that ends in a straight line
The photo shows what the flight is for. Above the lip the Zambezi is wide and shallow, broken by islands and bare rock, and nothing on the ground lets you see that. The falls run about 1,700 m across and drop in one straight cut through the basalt, so the shape only makes sense from above.
The same view tells you how much water there is that day, which is the one thing a flight cannot promise. More on that near the end of the page.
The government fee line that decides the real price
Five of the six listings we opened in full leave a government fee outside the price. The cheapest lists its government fees as not included. The To do Africa listing leaves out a "National Park and Aviation Tax" and gives no figure. Only the Afro Dawn listing says the national park fee is included.
| Listing | Price band | Fee wording |
|---|---|---|
| Standard flight, 12 to 13 minutes | 120 to 250 EUR | Government fees, not included |
| 13 minutes, To do Africa | 120 to 250 EUR | National park and aviation tax, not included, no amount |
| Flight of the Angels, Afro Dawn | 120 to 250 EUR | National park fees included |
| Window-seat guarantee | 250 to 500 EUR | Zambezi National Park not included, no amount |
| Private microlight | 120 to 250 EUR | Aviation fees excluded, plus a per-person charge for travelers staying in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe |
| 25 minutes, Wild Horizons | 250 to 500 EUR | National park fee and fuel surcharge not included, no amounts |
The fee is a sizeable share of the cheapest ticket. Put the cheapest ticket plus the fee beside the Afro Dawn price with the fee included and the two sit closer than the sticker prices suggest. Before you book, find the line that says who collects the fee and when. A listing that says nothing is a listing to ask about.
Twelve minutes or twenty-five: price per minute
The long flight sits in the 250 to 500 EUR band, nearly twice the cheapest ticket, for roughly twice the time in the air. Per minute both come out about the same. What the longer flight buys is more map: after the falls it follows the Batoka Gorge downstream and returns over the park, where the listing says elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo and giraffes can be spotted. The operator is Wild Horizons. The listing has six reviews and a 4.2 average, too few to lean on. It carries a limit of 120 kg per passenger.
Our reading: if the falls are the point, the short flight does the job. The long one is for people who also want the gorge and the park from the air.
Each dot is one listing, placed by the length its provider states. The cheapest group, all in the 120 to 250 EUR band, sits at 0.8 or 1 hour because those listings count pickup, briefing and flight together. The group at 0.2 hours, roughly 120 to 500 EUR, states the flight only. Both groups sell the same 12 to 15 minutes in the air.
So length on this axis tells you how an operator describes the product, not how long you fly. Price and the fee wording are the better guides.
The microlight listing
There is one microlight listing: a private flight in the 120 to 250 EUR band, listed at 15 minutes, with a 4.9 average from 14 reviews. It departs from the Zambian side. Its fine print is the shortest of the group and the oddest. Aviation fees are excluded, and a note adds that a per-person charge applies to travelers staying in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, without saying what it covers. The listing does not recommend it for anyone with poor cardiovascular health. It is the only microlight on this page, so if open air is what you want, ask the operator what that charge is before you pay.
Thirteen operators, one name with the reviews
Chikopokopo Helicopters has 3,979 reviews at 4.9. The next largest, To do Africa, has 103 at 4.4, then Shearwater Adventures with 49 and Mjair Helicopters with 48. Every other listing has 14 reviews or fewer. A 4.9 on almost four thousand reviews says something about one operation. A 5.0 on five reviews says nothing yet.
One caution. The To do Africa listing gives a booking office in town and describes the same 12 to 13 minute Flight of Angels circuit. We cannot tell from the listing whose helicopter flies you. If two prices look like the same flight, they may be.
How to choose a Victoria Falls helicopter flight
Flights are priced per person; none of the 14 quotes a group price. Start from the fee, not the title. Take the 12 to 13 minute flight in the 120 to 250 EUR band, add the government fee if the listing excludes it, and compare that total with the dearer listings. A window-seat guarantee in the 250 to 500 EUR band for up to three travelers sells a window seat for each traveler, so ask what the standard listing already gives you. And keep the scale in mind: the median flight costs more than two and a half times the median day tour of both sides, which includes a guide, a border crossing and several hours on the ground.
Spray, rainbows and the month you fly
The photo catches a rainbow in the spray, seen from above the lip. Nobody can promise one. Wikipedia puts the flood peak in April, and Zambia Tourism says parts of the falls dry up from October. In the first case there is more spray, in the second more bare rock.
We left out a month chart. None of the listings we read sets a season, and a flight does not depend on the river the way a swim at Devil's Pool does. What changes is the view, not whether you go.
Questions about Victoria Falls helicopter flights
How long is the Victoria Falls helicopter flight?
The standard flight is 12 to 13 minutes in the air, and some listings say 15. One listing sells 25 minutes. The whole outing is longer: the busiest listing counts about 45 minutes from pickup, with a 7 to 10 minute drive to the helipad and a safety briefing before takeoff.
How much does it cost?
The 14 listings run from roughly 120 to 500 EUR, typically 120 to 250 EUR. Most of the price difference is the length of the flight and whether the government fee is included. Five of the six listings we opened excluded a fee.
Is the government fee included?
It depends on the listing. Of the six we opened, one includes a national park fee and five leave a fee out, sometimes with no amount. The 25 minute flight also lists a fuel surcharge as not included.
Is there a weight limit?
Two listings say so. One caps each passenger at 120 kg, on the 25 minute flight. Another lists a total passenger weight of 600 kg. Operators balance the aircraft, so give your real weight when you book.
Can children fly?
The listings say infants sit on an adult's lap. On the 25 minute flight adult pricing applies to every traveler and children under 2 fly free on a lap. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Want the falls from the ground too?
The Victoria Falls page covers the two parks, the water through the year and how the tours fit together.
