Victoria Falls safari packages run from under 500 to more than 1,000 EUR for 2 to 6 days, and the price tells you more about what is bundled than about the animals. The cheapest package includes park fees and lunch but no bed. A mid-priced one includes three nights at a lodge and leaves out every park entrance. The six-day listing, above 1,000 EUR, never goes back to the falls: it starts with a transfer to Kasane and ends in Maun. This page is for the traveler weighing a bundle against booking the pieces one by one. It reads the 20 packages for what each one actually bundles, which is not always a safari and not always the falls. What a Victoria Falls safari package is, and what it is not
Sort the 20 by what the title names and the list falls apart quickly. Ten name Chobe, the national park across the border in Botswana. Four name Hwange, the large park in western Zimbabwe, and one of them also names Chobe. The other seven name neither. Two of those seven we opened. The 3-day Zimbabwe safari, in the 500 to 1,000 EUR band, is two nights at a lodge, a rainforest walk, a sunset cruise and a game drive in Zambezi National Park, which is next to the town. The 3-day package from Johannesburg, above 1,000 EUR, is flights, two nights, a guided visit to the falls and a cruise, and the itinerary we read has no game drive in it.

Chobe as a day trip from Victoria Falls
Chobe is across a border, and the listings are consistent about how the day works. A driver takes you to the Kazungula crossing, about an hour from town, and one of the listings has you there by 08:30. You exit Zimbabwe, a Botswana guide takes over on the far side, and the day is a game drive in a 4x4 of about 3 hours, lunch, and a boat cruise on the Chobe River of about 3 hours. You are back at the hotel between 17:30 and 18:00. That is the day inside the 2-day combo, in the 250 to 500 EUR band, and it is the same format the day-trip operators sell on their own. The transfer to Kasane plus the border takes about an hour and a half in the 6-day listing.
Why the Chobe day is the one that sells
The photo shows what the listings promise: a herd at the water. The 6-day listing describes Chobe as a place where large herds of elephants and Cape buffalo converge on the riverfront in the dry months, and it is the dry months that set the timing problem. The elephants come when the land is dry. The falls are fullest after the rains, February to May according to Wikipedia, and run low from about September. The two peaks do not line up neatly, and none of the 20 listings fixes a season.
Passports are required, and visas are not included in the one listing we read for it.
Hwange is a different trip
Hwange packages cost roughly 500 to more than 1,000 EUR and take 4 or 5 days. The one Hwange day we read in full starts with a 06:30 pickup and a packed breakfast. The drive passes rural villages and the Hwange Colliery, then you change into a 4x4 for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch and viewing from hides at the waterholes. The day ends around 16:00 and the transfer back to town follows. That is a long day before any lodging question arises. It is also why a package that promises Chobe and Hwange in four days leaves no slack: arrival and cruise, Chobe, Hwange, then a sunrise walk at the falls and the airport.

The cheapest listing in the table is also one of only two that includes fees. The 4-day package, in the 500 to 1,000 EUR band, is the one where the sticker price is furthest from the final bill: it leaves out the falls, two national parks and a cruise permit, with no amounts given. Ask for the sum in writing. The Zimbabwean entrance tariff changed in February 2026, and one listing above still quotes an older figure, so figures age quickly.
The chart shows something the median hides. There is no package near the median. Ten cost under 1,000 EUR, ten cost clearly more, and the median describes neither group. Days do not explain the split. A 5-day camping tour and a 5-day accommodated tour from the same operator, Africa Beast Safaris, both cost the same, above 1,000 EUR. A 4-day Chobe listing costs more than a 5-day one from another operator, though both are above 1,000 EUR. Price here follows the operator and the bundle more than the calendar.
Who sells these packages
The 20 listings come from 17 operators and share 149 reviews. Sixteen of them have fewer than ten. The two with the most are the 3-day Chobe package from Falls Breeze Tours, with 19, and the 4-day Falls and Chobe listing from Afro Honeyguide Adventures, with 18. A 5.0 here usually rests on three to nine reviews, so the 4.88 average says little. At typically above 1,000 EUR we would want more than that behind a booking. Ask for the day-by-day itinerary and the fee list first.
The boat day
The photo shows the other half of the Chobe day: elephants crossing a channel of the river. In the listings the boat cruise lasts about three hours and sits after the lunch. It is the part of the day where animals come to you, and it is the reason the 2-day combo, in the 250 to 500 EUR band, is easy to defend.
It is also the part the shortest package squeezes: at two days there is one Chobe day and no slack if the border queue runs long.
How many days a package really needs
Do the arithmetic from the itineraries. The falls take two to three hours. Chobe takes a full day, from about 07:00 to 18:00. Hwange takes a full day, from 06:30 to the afternoon and a drive back. A trip with all three needs three days of activity and one more for arriving, so the 4-day package, in the 500 to 1,000 EUR band, is tight, not padded, and nothing in it is optional. If you only want Chobe and the falls, two days is enough, and the 2-day listing is built for that.
Questions about Victoria Falls safari packages
How many days do I need for Victoria Falls and Chobe?
Two. The cheapest 2-day combo is in the 250 to 500 EUR band and gives one day to the falls and one to Chobe; the cheapest Chobe package overall is a 3-day listing in the same band. The falls take two or three hours of walking. Chobe is a full day, leaving about 07:00 and returning by 18:00. Add a day only for Hwange or for a night in the park.
Are park entrance fees included?
It depends on the listing. Of the five we compared, two include them and three do not. The 4-day package, in the 500 to 1,000 EUR band, leaves out the falls, Chobe, Hwange and the cruise permit. Ask for the total in writing.
Do I need a visa for Botswana?
Chobe is in Botswana, so the day includes a border crossing at Kazungula. The listings say visas are not included. One listing on our both sides page says the KAZA UniVisa covers day trips to Botswana for eligible nationalities, though it is not valid for Namibia or Angola. Check with the embassy.
Is a package better than booking a Chobe day trip?
The Chobe day inside the 2-day combo is the same format the day-trip operators sell separately. A package earns its price when it also covers lodging, transfers or fees. If it covers none of them, you are paying for the bundle only.
When is the best time to go?
The seasons pull against each other. The 6-day listing says Chobe's elephants and buffalo gather on the riverfront in the dry months. Wikipedia puts the flood peak of the falls in April, and they run low from about September. None of the 20 listings fixes a season.
