Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole in one day

20 combination listings, roughly 30 to 250 EUR. The pair takes about 4 hours from Ocho Rios and mostly 6 to 8 from Montego Bay.

The same two waterfalls are sold as a 4-hour trip from Ocho Rios and as an 8-hour day from Montego Bay, and the 20 listings for a Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole day run at roughly 30 to 250 EUR. The waterfalls are the same, the difference is the road. Dunn's River is a climb up rock steps in a human chain behind a guide; the Blue Hole is a pool where people jump and swing. They are 30 minutes apart by one listing's count, they have separate gates, and a few operators fold both fees into the price while the cheapest charge them on top. This page is about whether to buy the pair as one day, from where, and what the number on the tile leaves out. If you only want the climb, it is covered from Ocho Rios and from Montego Bay. The swimming hole has a page of its own.

The listings name their departure unevenly. Seven titles say Montego Bay, five say Ocho Rios and two say Falmouth, one of them together with Montego Bay. The rest say nothing, which usually means a pier or a hotel zone to be settled at booking, so the first question to put to any of them is where the day starts and where it ends. A ship passenger, a villa guest and someone staying in Negril are buying three different days from the same tile. Gate tariffs are not quoted here; every other price here is in EUR.

Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole in one day: two different moods

People book the pair because each waterfall fills a different half of a day. Dunn's River is the climb, and the listings are consistent about it: a guide leads, groups hold hands, there are exit points along the way where you can step out and meet the group at the top, and the total time in the park is about 1 hour 30. The Blue Hole is the swim, with jumps, a rope swing and caves, and a path to the Secret Falls that one listing puts at five minutes of walking. One is a dry-ish, steady thing for the whole group, the other is a free-for-all in cold water.

The combination works because the two do not repeat each other. It also fails in one specific way: a day built around two stops of an hour and a half each, 30 minutes apart, becomes a long day only if the road to the first one is long.

The pair is a 4-hour plan from Ocho Rios and a 3-hour drive from Montego Bay with the same two stops.

Which waterfall comes first

Operators order the day differently. A private Ocho Rios listing climbs Dunn's River first, then drives 30 minutes to the Blue Hole, waits at both and takes you back to the pier or hotel. A Montego Bay listing lists the Blue Hole first and Dunn's River after it, with stops to photograph great houses on the way.

Neither order is better. Wet first means a damp seat on the long ride back; dry first means the Blue Hole path, which one listing warns can be slippery, is the last thing your legs do. Ask which order the driver uses and bring a towel that goes in a bag.

The Ocho Rios day and the Montego Bay day, hour by hour

The listings give enough to rebuild both days. From the pier or a hotel in Ocho Rios the stops run: ten minutes to Dunn's River, about an hour and a half in the park, a drive of about 30 minutes to the Blue Hole, about an hour there, and the road back. That adds up to roughly 3 hours 40 minutes, which is the 4 hours it is sold as.

Four listings fall outside this pattern. A listing at 30 to 60 EUR is marked 1 hour. One hour cannot cover two waterfalls and a drive between them, its inclusions list an air-conditioned vehicle and nothing else, and its title says entrance fees are not included, so the duration must be timing something other than the visit. A private combination from Montego Bay in the 120 to 250 EUR band is marked 4 hours, which fits neither the road nor the two stops. Two others, from Ocho Rios, are marked 3 and 3.5 hours at 60 to 120 EUR, tight but possible.

What the two gates add to the price

Dunn's River's gate has a separate adult rate and child rate in these listings and in a Gleaner piece from January 2025. The sources disagree on the child age: the listing we opened says 4 to 11, the Gleaner 4 to 12. The park's pages we could read gave no 2026 tariff. The Blue Hole has its own admission: a ticket-only listing sells entry, life vests and a guide for under 30 EUR. That second price is the useful one, because it shows what one gate is worth on this island, and the cheap combinations do not include it.

Five listings and what each says about entrance
Listing Price band Length Entrance

Chuck Norris Secret Falls and Dunn's River Falls120 to 250 EUR6 hoursEntrance fee included
[PRIVATE] Dunn's River Falls, Blue Hole & Secret Falls120 to 250 EUR6 hoursEntrance included, as the title says

Read the table as a ladder. The cheapest private listing costs its price plus two gates. With the Dunn's gate added to a Blue Hole ticket sold under 30 EUR, an adult pays well over the cheapest listing's price, and the listing with both admissions in the price comes with a bus, a guide and an 8-hour day. If entrance is what you are comparing, the cheapest is not the cheapest.

What the price buys

Chart of the prices of the 20 Dunn's River Falls & Blue Hole in One Day listings on waterfalls.travel, median 124.6 EUR

A wide band, no clean rule

The chart is less tidy than on the single-waterfall pages. Private listings sit at roughly 30 to 250 EUR and shared ones at roughly 60 to 250 EUR, so the label says little: the medians for private and shared are close. What rises with price is the length and what is bundled: the two shared dots well above the median, at 6 and 7 hours, include entrance and lunch respectively, and the dearest, for 5 hours, adds bamboo rafting and horseback riding.

The two marks at the bottom, in the 30 to 60 EUR band, both leave the entrance to you.

Who sells it, and the 29% problem

Eighteen operators sell the 20 listings, which looks like a crowd and is not. SNL Jamaican Tours alone has 1,037 of the 3,534 reviews, a 29% share, and its 8-hour Montego Bay day is rated 4.6, the lowest of the listings with more than 100 reviews. The rest sit between 4.8 and 5.0, and twelve of the 20 have fewer than 100 reviews, so a 5.0 here may mean thirty-odd people. Courtney Taylor Private Tours is on the page three times, once at 60 to 120 EUR and twice at 120 to 250 EUR.

The 4.81 average is real and it is flattering. Judge a listing by its inclusions, its departure point and what it says it does with the clock, not by the stars.

A 5.0 from 32 reviews and a 4.6 from 1,037 are two different kinds of evidence.

Add-ons and the Secret Falls

One listing sells the Blue Hole under another name: its itinerary stop is the Blue Hole and its title says Chuck Norris Secret Falls, at 120 to 250 EUR for 6 hours with entrance included. The same site is also called Secret Falls and Island Gully Falls, which is why the Blue Hole page carries both names. A listing built around Reggae Hill adds lunch and cocktails to the pair for 120 to 250 EUR and 7 hours. The most loaded listing is a day in the 120 to 250 EUR band with bamboo rafting, horseback riding and lunch, which at 5 hours is a sampler and not a combination of two waterfalls.

Lunch needs care. Six listings are flagged as including it, but the biggest one lists its jerk-chicken stop as at your own expense. Treat every lunch as unconfirmed until you see it in the inclusions.

Is one day enough for both?

From Ocho Rios, yes, and it is the most efficient way to see them: 4 hours, one driver, two stops. If you have a ship day, give the operator your re-boarding time; one Dunn's River listing in this catalogue asks for it at checkout, and a 4-hour plan leaves room for it. From Montego Bay it is a long day for 3 hours of water, and the 8-hour listings with both admissions included are the ones to take, because at that length you want the fees settled and a lunch stop that someone has planned.

If you can only pay for one waterfall, the Dunn's River climb is the better-known choice and the Blue Hole is the more fun for a group that swims; the Blue Hole page explains the name and the ticket ladder.

Questions about Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole in one day

Can you do Dunn's River Falls and the Blue Hole in one day?

Yes. From Ocho Rios it takes about 4 hours: ten minutes to Dunn's River, about 1 hour 30 there, 30 minutes to the Blue Hole and about an hour there. From Montego Bay the listings are mostly 6 to 8 hours.

Is the Blue Hole the same as Dunn's River Falls?

No. They are separate attractions with separate gates, about 30 minutes apart by one listing's count. Dunn's River is a climb with a guide; the Blue Hole is a swimming and jumping pool, also sold as Island Gully Falls or Secret Falls.

Are entrance fees included?

Only in some listings. At least four include them, at 120 to 250 EUR. The cheapest listings, in the 30 to 60 EUR band, charge both gates on top, and Dunn's River's gate alone is a real extra cost for an adult.

How long is the drive from Montego Bay?

A Montego Bay listing puts the transfer to Dunn's River at about 1.5 hours each way. The Blue Hole is in the hills above Ocho Rios, so the day is mostly 6 to 8 hours long.

Is lunch included?

Six of the 20 are flagged as including lunch. The largest, from Montego Bay, lists a jerk-chicken stop at your own expense. Check the inclusions.

Is Dunn's River Falls open after Hurricane Melissa?

The park reopened on 11 November 2025, according to the Urban Development Corporation's announcement the day before; the hurricane had struck on 28 October. Confirm hours for your date.
