Niagara Falls Canadian Side Tours: Boat Cruise and Journey Behind the Falls
20 tours read one by one, from a guided walk under 30 EUR to a helicopter day above 250 EUR. Typically 60 to 120 EUR, and the price follows the hours.
Twenty tours sell the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, and they run from under 30 to more than 250 EUR, typically 60 to 120 EUR. The gap comes from what the price covers: a one-hour walk that ends at the boat dock, a three-hour trip with the boat and Journey Behind the Falls already booked, or a five-hour day with a helicopter on top. This page goes through the 20 listings tour by tour, says what each format includes, shows the one tour that boards its boat on the American side, and explains what Journey Behind the Falls looks like while it is being rebuilt. For the falls themselves, start on the Niagara Falls page. For the other bank, there is the American side page.
How to read the numbers. Prices are per person as listed on 22 October 2026, in euros, and they are medians where we say so, because one listing above 250 EUR would drag an average out of shape. One of the 20 is a bare admission ticket and not a tour. Thirteen operators sit behind the set, and the biggest, See Sight Tours, holds a third of the reviews. The tour-by-tour reading below is where the price differences stop being abstract. If you only want the Canadian boat and the tunnel, the 3-hour listings are the core of the set; the longer ones add a tower, a helicopter or the American side.

Canadian side Niagara Falls tours: what each price buys
Three attractions sit behind almost every listing here. The boat is run by Niagara City Cruises, which used to be Hornblower; some operators still write the old name in their descriptions. Journey Behind the Falls is a set of tunnels that descend 125 feet to platforms beside the Horseshoe Falls. The Skylon Tower observation deck is the third, and only the longer listings add it.
Everything else is a question of who gets you there and who talks on the way. You get a guide on foot, a van with hotel pickup, or nobody at all. Ten of the 20 listings include a pickup. The rest start at a meeting point you reach yourself.
Under 60 EUR, no listing in this set names both the boat and Journey Behind the Falls.
Niagara City Cruises, not Maid of the Mist
People still call every Niagara boat the Maid of the Mist. That name belongs to the American company, whose boats leave from the New York bank. The Canadian boat is Niagara City Cruises, and the listings on this page describe a cruise of 20 to 30 minutes that passes the American Falls before moving into the basin of the Horseshoe Falls.
The season is the part that catches people. Our listings put the boat between May and November or December, and replace it with Journey Behind the Falls or Niagara Takes Flight, a flying-theatre ride, in winter. If you book between January and April, read the inclusions line before you pay.
Journey Behind the Falls is open, and it is a building site
Niagara Parks, which owns the attraction, sells adult and child admission on its own page, priced in Canadian dollars; check the current tariff. Visitors go down 125 feet through tunnels about 130 years old to platforms close to the Horseshoe Falls.
The attraction stays open while it is rebuilt. Niagara Parks announced the work on 12 March 2026, and its attraction page says the restored tunnel, with a covered and heated platform, is due in spring 2027 and a new Rainbow Platform in spring 2028. None of the 20 listings mentions the works, so a tour built around Journey is built around a site under construction.

Price follows the clock
Plot the 19 listings that state a length and a line appears. Tours of up to three hours, eight of them, typically cost 60 to 120 EUR. The seven between 3.2 and 4 hours come to 120 to 250 EUR. The four that run five or six hours are typically in the same 120 to 250 EUR band, and the helicopter listing among them sits alone at 250 to 500 EUR.
Length does not explain everything. Two four-hour listings sit in different bands, 120 to 250 EUR (Scenic Tours of Niagara) and 60 to 120 EUR (Gray Line Toronto), so look at what is in the day before you look at the clock.
The cheapest listing is a walk
The cheapest entry is a one-hour guided walk of about 500 meters. It starts outside Casino Niagara, passes Oakes Garden Theatre and ends at the Niagara City Cruises dock. The boat ticket is an option you select at booking, and the listing says the tour finishes at the boat, with the return trip left to you.
That is a fair product if you already know you want the cruise. It is a poor one if you read "boat cruise" in the title and assumed it was in the price. The second walking listing, from Fallsview Tours in the 60 to 120 EUR band, is also one hour. Between the two the difference may be the boat ticket, not more tour.
The tour that boards its boat in another country
The top listing by reviews, 3,689 of them, is a 120 to 250 EUR six-hour "Canadian Side Tour" from Over the Falls Tours. Read the description and the Maid of the Mist portion departs from the US side of the falls. The listing has meeting points on both sides, includes hotel pickup but not from Toronto, and states that every customer needs documents to enter the United States and Canada.
Maid of the Mist runs in 2026 from 24 April to 8 November. Outside that window the listing swaps it for Journey Behind the Falls. If your plan is a day that never leaves Ontario, this is the one listing on the page to skip. If you want both banks, it is a reasonable way to get them, and the American side has its own page with the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds prices.
Check the meeting point before you check the price. Two addresses in two countries means a border.
Pickup, parking and group size
Half the listings collect you from a hotel. The walking tours do not, and one operator warns that parking in Niagara Falls is limited and that lots often fill by mid-day, which is why it suggests a taxi or Uber to the meeting point. Group size runs from small to coach: the walking tours take up to 15 travelers per booking, the Premium van tour from See Sight Tours up to 7, the helicopter combination up to 15.
Go With The Flow Tours has a four-hour small-group listing in the 60 to 120 EUR band with 192 reviews and a 5.0 rating. It is the one listing with "small group" in its title, on a thin base of reviews.
Doing it yourself: what the operators publish
A tour here mostly bundles tickets, so the tickets are the yardstick.
| Attraction | Adult | Child | What else to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Journey Behind the Falls | On the operator's page | On the operator's page | Adult 13+, child 3 to 12. Open during the rebuild. Priced in Canadian dollars. |
| Niagara Parks Power Station | On the operator's page | On the operator's page | Tunnel of 2,200 ft, 180 ft below ground. A fair alternative to Journey. |
| Maid of the Mist (American side) | On the operator's page | On the operator's page | Child 6 to 12, free to age 5. Season 24 April to 8 November 2026. |
| Niagara City Cruises | no confirmed price | no confirmed price | Listings put its season between May and November or December. We could not read a price from the operator, so we quote none. |

Booking mistakes on the Canadian side
The listings themselves point at four traps. The first is meeting the guide at the boat. One operator says in capital letters not to go to the Niagara City Cruises boat and to meet outside Casino Niagara instead. The second is assuming hotel pickup. The walking listing in the 60 to 120 EUR band lists it as not included. The third is booking a winter date and expecting the cruise. The fourth is believing the descriptions of the rapids: one listing calls the Whirlpool Rapids class 6 in its description and class 4 in its itinerary, so treat both as marketing and look at the water yourself.
Questions about Canadian side Niagara Falls tours
Is the Canadian side better than the American side?
The Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the three, are best seen from the Canadian bank, where the boat and Journey Behind the Falls both put you close to them. The American side gets you nearer the American Falls and Bridal Veil. Most visitors who have the time do both, and the American side page covers what that costs.
Do I need a passport for a Canadian side tour?
It depends where you start. Listings that begin and end in Niagara Falls, Ontario, stay in Canada. The walking listing from Walks - Canada states that guests arriving from the US need a passport to enter Canada, and the Over the Falls listing asks for documents for both countries because its boat boards in the US.
Is Niagara City Cruises the same as Hornblower?
Yes. Niagara City Cruises is the current name of the Canadian boat that many listings still call Hornblower, and some operators still write the old name in their descriptions. It is a different company from the Maid of the Mist, which sails from the American bank, so a listing that names one does not give you a ticket for the other.
Is Journey Behind the Falls closed for the renovation?
No. Niagara Parks says the attraction stays open during the works. The restored tunnel and covered platform are due in spring 2027 and the Rainbow Platform in spring 2028, so a visit before then happens next to construction. None of the 20 listings mentions the works, which is worth a question to the operator.
Is lunch included?
Rarely. One of the 20 listings, the luxury tour from Zoom Tours, in the 120 to 250 EUR band, includes lunch. The other 19 do not list a meal among their inclusions, so on a four to six hour day check what the listing says about food before you plan the afternoon around it.
Seeing the other bank too?
The American side page prices Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds and the viewpoints on Goat Island.
Data verified on . 20 listings read 22 October 2026. Admission prices from Niagara Parks, Maid of the Mist and the operators' pages. Rebuild dates from Niagara Parks.
